Briefing

To address the obvious challenge in this logo regarding the sensitivity and symbolic aspect of tobacco in First Nation culture, we kept it simple to show respect to the meaning, while providing graphic elements of tobacco in a positive, natural light.

Approach

Despite many striking visual items put forward in the development stage, the use of this logo lent itself to a simple, but meaningful design of the tobacco leaf with subtle elements of the eagle (pride), wisdom and trustworthiness.

Result

The colours were chosen for their cool, soft and calm effect, and we purposely avoided traditional browns or yellows to preserve a clean and healing feeling — the resulting logo beautifully represent the desired message of education and health.
