York Factory First Nation Cree Language App
Briefing
York Factory First Nation (YFFN) aimed to create an app that shares their language, history, and culture. The app helps people of all ages learn Cree language, syllabic writing, and explore Ininiw (Cree culture) through stories from the land.
Approach
Our team started with research and brainstorming to design a functional product for learning Inineemowin. We gathered self-teaching content and used this as the base for the app, building from the methods of current language apps.

Inineemowin: York Factory Cree app supports YFFN’s language revitalization journey, reconnecting users with YFFN heritage. Developed in collaboration with YFFN and HTFC, this app is just the start. We look forward to continuous updates and added content to the user experience.
